Movember is the world’s largest men’s health organisation. As an organisation, The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride strives to select health partners that are focused on universal, game-changing and realistic outcomes, so Movember and their strategic goal of men living happier, healthier & longer lives is a perfect fit for what we are trying to achieve.

With an official presence in over 10 countries and a truly global community, Movember has already funded over 1000 men’s health programs with a unique focus on global collaboration, some of which have been supported by The Distinguished Gentlemen’s Ride in the past.

More needs to be done to tackle the specific issues that affect men’s health. As the leading global organisation committed to changing the face of men’s health, Movember is uniquely positioned to take action.

DGR is a classic themed event, so modern-designed motorcycles, sports motorcycles, dirt/adventure motorcycles and cruiser motorcycles that do not fit within the classic style are not eligible to participate with.

We aim to keep events manageable for our volunteer ride hosts, and to ensure the safety of all participants that take part in each event. Many of our key events expect over 1,000 participants throughout city centres, and significant growth in numbers will increase the risk of incidents and road closures, which will have a negative effect on the success of The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride.

Fundraising

While The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride is a charitable event it is not compulsory to fundraise or donate unless you are taking part in a city with a required minimum donation.
Movember is the sole beneficiary to DGR, and donating to other charities through DGR is not possible or permitted. We have deliberately partnered with Movember as they are the leading global charity committed to changing the face of men’s health and therefore are uniquely positioned to take action and spend the funds strategically. Movember finances a diverse range of global and local initiatives, ensuring that the knowledge gained is shared. They utilise research findings to inform policies, programs and practice, and improve health outcomes for men around the world.
Cash contributions or donations are not accepted on event day unless there are representatives from Movember present. We will alert the participants at the event beforehand if this is taking place. These funds will not count towards your online total, so it is best you donate to yourself online. If you are being asked by anyone who is not from Movember to make a cash donation, please contact us immediately via our contact page. If you wish to make a cheque donation, click here to find the form, fill in the fields, and mail it to the relevant address. Movember will inform DGR once a cheque has cleared and we will update accordingly.
Through Movember’s charitable status the countries where you can receive a tax-deductible receipt include: USA, Canada, UK, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, Netherlands, Spain and Sweden. For all other enquiries please contact: [email protected]

Movember invests funds donated by the participants of The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride into approved programs in line with the founding principles of both parties.

100% of funds donated go directly to Movember. The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride is then reimbursed for costs relating to the delivery and running of the actual event. These costs relate to a maximum of 20% of total fundraising. Our priority will always be to run a safe event and ensure its delivery on a global level for all participants involved.

Funds donated in 2024 will be invested in prostate cancer clinical research, prostate cancer health services and men’s mental health and suicide prevention projects.

Safety

Safety is always the priority. If a city is experiencing extreme conditions, we will postpone the event if necessary and as decided by the Ride City Host.

The local host of your registered city will send an email alert including an SMS or WhatsApp regarding events that are postponed or cancelled.

Riding a motorcycle is a risky exercise, regardless of what you are wearing. Our event is always low speed and takes place through the slowest streets of each city. This is a safety feature of our event to minimize the risk to our participants. Any participants concerned about safety are encouraged to wear armor underneath their suits for added protection. Information regarding safety for all events can be viewed through our Safety Information page.
